How to Prep a Ceiling
Proper preparation is essential for the success of any painting project and your ceiling is no exception. In just a few easy steps you will learn how to get the job done right.
For Best Results:
For clean lines, use a putty knife to press down firmly on the tape to prevent any paint from seeping behind it.
Suggested Tools & Supplies

BEHR® Stain-Blocking Primer

Screwdriver
-
Painter’s Tape
-
Brush (50-65mm / 2"-2½")

Step 1Grab your tools.

Step 2Using the painter’s tape, tape off the places where the ceiling and the wall meet.

Step 3If your ceiling has vents, you will want to remove them with a screwdriver.

Step 4If you have any stains on your ceiling, just paint them over with a BEHR® Stain-Blocking Primer.

Step 5Your ceiling is ready to be painted.
