How to Stain a Composite Surface

Prepare your surface by cleaning it with BEHR PREMIUM® All-in-One Wood Cleaner.
Apply stain with quality equipment and start with vertical areas first.
Apply even coats and allow ample dry time before exposing the surface to foot traffic and re-arranging plants and furniture.

Step 1
Protect plants, furniture and other items with plastic sheeting or drop cloth.

Step 2To effectively remove mold, dirt and grime from composite surfaces, use BEHR PREMIUM® All-in-One Wood Cleaner. Follow all label instructions.

Step 3
Apply BEHR PREMIUM® Solid Colour Weatherproofing All-In-One Wood Stain & Sealer using a quality pad applicator, brush, roller or sprayer directly over clean, dry composite decking to give a whole new look. Make sure to follow all label instructions.

Step 4For weathered composite surfaces use BEHR PREMIUM ADVANCED DeckOver® to bring new life to old composite decks.

A quality pump sprayer may be used when applying wood finishes.

When using a brush, always back-brush to ensure even application.

Step 7
Apply to vertical surfaces first, being careful not to drip onto any horizontal areas. Work with entire board lengths-including the ends.

Apply even coats and allow ample drying time before exposing the surface to foot traffic and rearranging plans and furniture.
