We are all guilty of that daydream...the beautiful, spacious bedroom one. Yes, the one where your bedroom is so big that it's actually more like a living room and bedroom combined, and where there is space for anything and everything! Your reality might not be as spatially generous, but that doesn't mean you can't have your combination room. Read on to see how to build a bed that doubles as a desk -- the perfect space-saving solution for your small space.

Inspired by a Poppi Desk, we loved the idea of a fold-up bed that also included a fold-down desk. We followed the build instructions found here; and along with some strategic colour placement, we successfully created a space that is both dynamic and practical.

After assembling the desk, we chose palette colours to paint different pieces. Polar Bear was used for the exterior bed frame. Two of our 2017 Colour Currents colours, Hot and Spicy -- a vivid, rust red, and Lemon Burst -- a sunny yellow, accented the bed and desk respectively.

To create the colour blocking look on the wall outlining our Poppi desk, simply measure a rectangle around your bed and mark with pencil. Apply painter's tape along the outer edge of your pencil marks. Paint your accent colour within the taped off area. Allow the paint to dry slightly before removing tape.
